Fighting the stereotype

A study has found that one in three women secretly love cleaning; that’s vacuuming, washing windows and general tidying. In response to the study, many women stated that they find the process relaxing and therapeutic and a way of relieving stress. The study also found that more than four hours per week are spent cleaning, but what ‘more’ really means is anyone’s guess.

Unsurprisingly, cleaning toilets and the oven are not so popular. What is perhaps surprising is that only four in ten women surveyed would admit that they enjoy cleaning to a partner.

Is cleaning such a chore? Why do these women feel the need to keep their joy of cleaning a secret? Debbie wouldn’t dream of having someone do her cleaning for her but is this an old-fashioned point of view?
