Premium Economy expanded

New routes and air alliances can mean more travel options, so what’s new in the air and on the ground this week?

Premium Economy expanded

Star Alliance, the world’s longest serving and most comprehensive airline alliance, has expanded its Round-The-World (RTW) fare to include travel in Premium Economy Class.

Made possible by the fact 11 of its member carriers now offer a dedicated Premium Economy cabin, customers can now travel in extra comfort on their RTW travels.

In line with the overall RTW product, the Premium Economy Class fare is offered in three mileage bands: 29,000, 34,000 or 39,000 miles. The new fares bring the total to 17 different Star Alliance RTW fare options, providing something for everyone’s personal travel needs.

Tigerair’s new terminal

Tigerair Australia has just opened the doors to its new Melbourne terminal.

Its first terminal to feature full automated self-service check in facilities, Terminal four doesn’t have conventional check-in desks. Instead, check in staff are completely mobile using the Max Airport iPad app to assist passengers with checking in, printing boarding passes, changing flight details, etc.

With the aim of enabling passengers to check in more efficiently than ever before at Melbourne Airport, what do you think of Tigerair’s recent improvements? Do these innovations change how you feel about flying with the airline?
