A new study has shown that more people are staying connected while on holidays. People are using smartphones, tablets and laptops for everything from checking the local weather and looking up restaurant recommendations, to emailing photographs and travel stories back to friends and family at home.
Only a few years ago travellers would have to use payphones and postcards to occasionally contact loved ones at home. Now they are using technology to connect multiple times per day. Wireless use is also higher for people on holiday (40 per cent) as opposed to people at home (25 per cent), and more people use the internet to plan vacations than for work. Using laptops and smartphones has been shown to be addictive, and people seem to be taking that addiction with them into their relaxation time.
