A new TV show will send celebrities to the jungles of Africa.
Channel 10 is advertising its new show, I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, which, despite being due to start in February, seems to be failing to attract ‘famous people’ wishing to spend time in a jungle camp.
The show, which is syndicated from the popular UK version, will take a group of celebrities to the jungles of Africa and set them up in a camp. The celebs then have to undertake a series of challenges, which usually includes eating bugs, walking across a tightrope suspended over a deep gully and being locked in a confined space with all sorts of creepy animals and reptiles – hardly surprising why no one is keen to do it!
Of course, the real aim of the show is to get celebs who may or may not know each other to interact in a confined, isolated location, with the hope they will turn on each other in an attempt to be crowned king or queen of the jungle.
Despite claiming otherwise, Network Ten appears to be having problems getting celebrities to sign up, with Sophie Monk (yes, she’s ‘famous’), turning down a reported $60,000 per week to appear on the show.
“Network Ten expects and welcomes speculation on the celebrities taking part on I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!, however we are not having trouble recruiting celebrities for the show,” Ten spokeswoman Kirsty Wilson said.
So, this begs the question, which ‘celebrity’ would you like to see sent to the jungles of Africa, preferably with a one-way ticket?
