Late afternoon August 18, 1966 South Vietnam – for three and a half hours, in the pouring rain, amid the mud and shattered trees of a rubber plantation called Long Tan, Major Harry Smith (Travis Fimmel) and his dispersed company of 108 young and mostly inexperienced Australian and New Zealand soldiers are fighting for their lives, holding off an overwhelming force of 2000 battle-hardened Viet Cong and North Vietnamese soldiers.

With their ammunition running out, their casualties mounting and the enemy massing for a final assault each man begins to search for his own answer, and the strength to triumph over an uncertain future with honour, decency and courage.

The Battle of Long Tan is one of the most savage and decisive engagements in ANZAC history, earning both the United States and South Vietnamese Presidential Unit citations for gallantry along with many individual awards.

Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan is a nail biting and dramatic exploration of war illustrating heroism, tragedy and the sacrifice of battle.

"An overdue drama that shows the terrifying chaotic intensity of a largely forgotten battle in the Vietnam War." ~ The Sydney Morning Herald

"An iconic Aussie battle enacted by an iconic Aussie cast." ~ GQ

"Extensive and detailed. The film goes beyond being just another historical action film – it’s a dedication to the men who fought." ~ Switch.

Refers to Bob Buick calling in artillery over the heads of his platoon and in dangerously close... no other choice - that or be over-run ...

Damn - I was considering a script for Long Tan... beat me to it again...

Was a terrible war. Left my cousin in quite a state. Has never recovered.
