Work cover after retirement age

YOURLifeChoices subscriber, Pamela, is still working despite being over 65-years of age but is concerned that she may no longer be eligible for work cover.

Q. Pamela

I am 66-years of age and still working. I have recently been told that I am no longer covered by work cover as this ceases at 65 years of age. When I called, I was advised over the phone that as long as I earned a wage, I would be covered. I would be grateful if you could give me some advice on this matter.

A. As a general rule, work cover ceases when retirement age – 65 years – is reached but there are exceptions to this which vary between state and territory. We suggest that you ask your employer or Work Cover provider to provide a written statement as to whether you are covered by under the terms of their policy.
