I wouldn't let my baby hold a dog's mouth like that. Not even safe the the poor dog to yawn for fear of the baby's hand ending up in its mouth. I could see my friend's having a drink at the bath when he grandson decides to give him one. He is a real little water rat and will drink from water in street gutters even if he has had one only a few minutes before at home. On a warm day I have had him lay on his belly and have a drink and come home dripping wet - an old towel to rescue! My brother had a dog that a child he knew could curl up with his/her head on its belly while it was asleep. The dog would wake up, glance around to see what was touching him, look as if to say OK it's you and go back to sleep. The dog's expression on its face was quite funny to watch. Believe me it would have been up very quickly had it been a stranger.
