In a heart-warming exchange of trust and kindness, a diver in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, is confronted with a bottlenose dolphin looking for help to remove a fishing hook and line stuck in its fin.
Two divers are monitoring manta rays in Garden Eel Cove when the dolphin approaches them. In an appeal for help, the dolphin turns on its back and offers its left pectoral fin to one of the divers, circling slowly around him and then trying to stay as still as possible while the diver removes the hook and line.
The video has received over 7 million views and it’s not difficult to understand why. This beautiful exchange between an animal in need of help and an empathetic human, who is in the right place at the right time, is a special lesson for all of us to keep in mind.
