Alice Cooper turns 67

Today, bad-boy rocker Alice Cooper turns 67 years old. Known to his fans and peers as The Godfather of Shock Rock, Cooper has a career spanning five decades, which features an extensive array of impressive – and some downright shocking – performances. While children around Australia are heading back to school this week, today Alice Cooper might be contemplating his glory days.

In 1971 the original Alice Cooper band burst into the international music industry with their hit I’m Eighteen from the album Love It to Death. This was followed by the even bigger single School’s Out in 1972.

It appears that old habits die hard for the rocker. When Cooper was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, he showed up wearing a blood-spattered shirt and a live giant albino boa snake wrapped around his neck. Some things never change.
