The coat to invest in for 2016

Coats aren’t the easiest item to buy. Firstly, there is the fact they are expensive, because they are a ‘big ticket item’, and unlike some other clothes, you know you’re going to spend a lot of time attached to them. Therefore, it’s often wise to view coats as an investment piece, rather than following trends that may date quickly.

In saying that, there is one ‘it’ coat of the moment that you won’t regret buying: the camel coat. Popping up on streets and in shops everywhere, this coat works hard for your money.

So why do you need a camel coat? Well, unlike black or navy, it’s a lighter option for autumn and spring, but not so light (such as white), that it will show up marks. Camel is also a fantastic neutral shade that is flattering against all skin types, and goes with almost anything and everything. The perfect complimentary colour to black, white, navy, the camel coat doesn’t require a lot of brainpower to come up with outfits that will work with it.

After noticing this trend, I decided to invest in a camel coat myself, and I can honestly say I haven’t looked back. I’ve worn it everyday since, and often end up matching my friend who also wears hers everyday. It’s indisputably a wardrobe staple. So, if you need a new coat for 2016, a camel-coloured one will have your back all year round.

Here are three of the best:

1.     Zara, Handmade Masculine Coat, approx. $200

2.     Mango, Handmade Coat, $290

3.     H&M, Coat in a wool blend, $100

Do you have a camel coat in your wardrobe? What are you looking for in a coat this year?
