Australian author Colleen McCullough has died age 77. Prior to be coming an author McCullough was a neuroscientist but turned to writing in 1974. She set hearts racing with the tale of the forbidden love of a priest in her novel The Thornbirds, which was published in 1977 and was made into a TV mini series starring Richard Chamberlain, Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward.
