Just when you thought the panorama images you take with your iPhone are big, NASA has proven us all wrong.
Taking things to a whole new level, or universe, NASA released in January this year an image of the Andromeda galaxy. The image of the closest galaxy to us was captured using the NASA/ESA Hubble Telescope.
Now for the part that will blow your mind, the image is actually 411 images combined. Put together to create the largest image ever taken, it’s an unbelievable 1.5 billion pixels and requires about 4.3GB of disk space.
Showcasing more than 40,000 light years, the image features over 100 million stars. If you’ve ever felt like you were a small speck on the horizon, this probably won’t help. However, it’s a great way to put your problems in perspective, or perhaps a timely reminder for anyone who may think the world revolves around them.
