Comfortable camping in Kakadu

Like the idea of camping, but not sold on sacrificing the comforts of modern day life? Well, now you can visit Australia’s outback in total comfort and style, thanks to pop-up hotel operator, Flash Camp.

Setting up at Cooinda Camping Ground for the dry season (not even glamping is enjoyable in the rain) ’Flash Camp @ Kakadu’ will offer bespoke bell tent accommodation in the heart of Kakadu National Park, for those seeking a stress-free camping experience while exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Listed site.

With access to newly renovated toilets and showers, barbecues, and a restaurant, bar and pool at the adjoining Cooinda Lodge, Flash Camp will deliver “a memorable experience for those looking for something more upmarket than a traditional camping option,” says general manager Brett Skinner.

“[It] offers the perfect balance of comfort and reconnection with nature.”

A great base for families, couples and groups to experience the iconic Yellow Water Wetlands Cruise and explore southern Kakadu attractions, Flash Camp will also host incentive groups, offering special tour packages and other unique experiences such as Spirit of Kakadu 4WD Adventure Tours, Fishing on Yellow Water and Indigenous-themed stargazing cruises.

Flash Camp CEO Cameron Arnold says of the venture with Kakadu Tourism and Accor Hotels is an opportunity to introduce new sustainable accommodation to the region.

“It is exciting for everyone involved to be able to offer a hassle-free, low impact camping experience in the heart of one of Australia’s most environmentally and culturally rich destinations,” Mr Arnold says.

Accommodation at ‘Flash Camp @ Kakadu’ will include double, twin and family bell tents featuring spring-foam mattresses on pallet bases, quality bed linen, fresh towels, bamboo furniture, toiletries and Armadillo & Co rugs.

A three-hour drive from Darwin, Cooinda Camping Ground is located next to Yellow Water Billabong in the centre of Kakadu National Park.

Cooinda Lodge is jointly managed and staffed by Kakadu Tourism and Accor Hotels.

Rates start at $140 per night, you can find out more at Kakadu Tourism.
