Doing Dublin

To be sure, to be sure, it’s Declan who drives the jolly green DoDublin bus while sharing hilarious takes on local sites and folklore.

It’s the 30-year anniversary of the DoDublin Hop on Hop off tour, with 30 stops across the city, including the Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College and Dublin City Hall.

There really is no better start to your visit than to board the bus, head upstairs and let Declan guide you around the seemingly endless activities and famous sites which the city boasts, many with free admission.

My favourites were the Writer’s Museum in Parnell Square, opposite the very moving Garden of Remembrance, which honours all who gave their lives in the cause of Irish freedom. The National Gallery of Ireland is also a treasure house of European and local works of art. And then there’s the Little Museum of Dublin, set in an old Georgian Townhouse, telling the stories of locals across the generations. The Irish capital has far too many attractions, but Declan’s overview is a great start.
