Stop everything and watch this video

As anyone who reads any of my articles would know, I don’t have a lot of nice things to say when it comes to BA. I have massive qualms with the fact they call themselves a full service airline yet fail to serve food, let alone allow you to choose a free seat or check in ahead of 24 hours prior. Easy Jet all the way I say!

Despite that, I have to give them credit where credit’s due. On my most recent flight with them back from Prague, they got myself – and most people on the plane – to do something I had not done in a long time…pay attention to the safety briefing. While I know it’s bad and that we should all pay attention during these, I’m not a fan of flying and find it doesn’t help to calm my nerves before take off. Also, I fly on a fortnightly basis so have heard it all before and quite frankly find it boring.

But BA’s new safety video is far from boring. With a star-studded line up that sees comedian Chabuddy G enlisting a number of famous British faces to help him explain how to do up your seatbelt and brace for an emergency landing, there’s no doubt British Airways have pulled out the big guns for this one. You may recognise Thandie Newton, Gordon Ramsay, Ian McKellen, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Broadbent, Gillian Anderson … even Joanna Lumley gets a mention.

Shown on flights since September 1, you’re guaranteed to pay attention to the six-minute safety sketch – if only to see who will appear on the screen next. Also mentioning BA’s charity, Flying Start, the entertaining video gives Air New Zealand’s consistently good efforts when it comes to safety videos a run for their money.
