Best road less travelled

If you really want to get off the tourist trail, you’ll find the ultimate road less travelled is actually not just one road, but half a dozen roads, tracks and wheel ruts that spear through the western deserts. They sit between the Red Centre and the west coast – i.e Gunbarrel Highway, Grand Central Road, Sandy Blight Junction Track, Gary Junction Road and the Telfer Mine Road. It’s about as remote as you can get, but spending a month or so in the desert is an experience that you won’t soon forget.
