Five classic Christmas movies

Christmas is upon us all – as if you didn’t know! The end of the year can be hectic and stressful, and sometimes it can be difficult to put yourself in the Christmas spirit. One of the best ways to find that festive feeling is to get some friends together, put on a Christmas movie and treat yourselves to some popcorn and eggnog (or beer, or red wine – hey, red is festive!). Here’s five of our favourite Christmas movies to get you in the mood.

White Christmas
Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney tripping the light fantastic at their failing Vermont inn.

Love Actually
Definitely a modern day Christmas classic for those who enjoy a little romance over the festive season. The stellar cast of actors bring humour, wit and realism to what could have turned out a schmaltzy Hollywood offering.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Chevy Chase is hilarious as Clark Griswold, who just wants to have a perfect family Christmas. Things quickly spiral out of control once his family get in on the act. This is a festive film for those who don’t mind their Christmas movies being a little more naughty than nice!

It’s a wonderful life
Who could fail to be moved when the angel gets its wings? This really is a classic, whether it’s Christmas or not.

Miracle on 34th Street
Whether it’s the original 1940s black and white version, or the more recent release in colour, there’s just something magical about a little girl proving Santa is real.
