Top baby names of 2014

The stats are in – Ava and Oliver were Australia’s most popular baby names in 2014, continuing the trend for ‘v’ names. A list of the 50 most popular boys and girls names for 2014 was published by Baby Centre.

 Oliver retained its position from last year and remains number one for boys, while Ava moved up from number 20 in 2013 to the number one name for girls, knocking off the top.

 The top five names for girls were:

  1. Ava
  2. Amelia
  3. Charlotte
  4. Olivia
  5. Chloe

The top five names for boys were:

  1. Oliver
  2. Noah
  3. Jack
  4. Jackson
  5. William
