Video: child refugee flees London

Imagine if you could witness a year in the life of a child refugee. International not-for-profit Save the Children has produced this striking two-minute video, which tells the fictional story of an 11-year-old girl fleeing war-torn London, being separated from her mother and suffering through multiple hardships.

President and CEO of Save the Children said, “The reason for putting it [the video] in the context of London is to really get across this idea: What if this were happening here to us in a developed country somewhere, be it in London or New York or Chicago?”

American research centre Pew Research released a report last week revealing that 96,000 children under the age of 18 fled to Europe from dangerous conditions in their own homelands last year.

The video is punchy and poignant, and will make you reassess what you think you know about the escape journey of refugees.
