Introducing the YourLifeChoices Deals of the Week

This week YourLifeChoices is introducing a brand new feature, YLC Deals of the Week. With the cost-of-living crisis still biting hard, making a little saving here and perhaps a big saving there can be a huge relief to the family budget.

Each week we will scour the country for good deals on everyday items, insurance, fuel, gas, electricity and more. Basically, if we find something that could help ease the family’s financial burden, we’ll let you know about it.

First up, we’ve found some potential savings to be had on energy, with several retailers in a number of states offering attractive discounts, we’ve uncovered some unusual specials at Aldi, and discovered fashion discounts of up to 50 per cent at Myer’s clearance sale.

Energy deals for the seasons ahead

The weather has already turned in some parts of Australia as summer begins to fade from our memories. While the federal government has flagged a drop in energy prices, several retailers are offering deals that could save you even more.

Depending on where you live, Sumo Energy and Engie (formerly Simply Energy) have some very strong offers in the market, up to 25 per cent and 24 per cent lower than the Victorian Default Offer and offers between 20 per cent and 22 per cent in NSW. Engie also offers $200 credit in some markets.

Queenslanders have a range of very competitive offers from Sumo and OVO, while SA residents can get between  per cent and 11 per cent off the reference price depending on the retailer. Also, don’t discount Energy Australia. The retailer has some very strong offers in the market in parts of Victoria and SA.

Energy pricing can be a bit confusing and depends on a number of factors such as the type of energy that powers your property, the size of your house, usage and more. The seemingly biggest discount may not be the best deal for your household, so it’s worth speaking to an expert. All offers are, at the time of writing, available via Compare Club’s Energy comparison (disclosure: YourLifeChoices is owned by Compare Club).

Set up your home with Aldi

Over at Aldi, the supermarket that’s always full of surprises, it’s all about home this week. The latest Aldi catalogue is brimming with furniture that could spruce up nearly every room in the house.

For the lounge room there’s an industrial entertainment unit that will look great holding up your brand new 40” 4K Ultra HD TV. With the unit retailing at $99.99 and the smart TV at a remarkable $299, you could transform your entertainment area for under $400.

For the kitchen, there’s some great cookware and stylish kettles and toasters that come in various colours. And for those keen to try out the latest fad, the air fryer, Aldi has one available for just $129, complete with a three-year warranty.

Aldi also has the bedroom covered with a selection of quilt and sheet sets, bedside tables, drawers, and even a fold-up bed!
