Baked Apple Crumble

An apple crumble usually serves many, but our Baked Apple Crumble makes just enough for one – so you don’t have to miss out on this comforting dessert. If there are two of you, simply double the quantities.

Serves: One

Time: One hour

Ingredients

  • 2 apples
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 30g butter, cubed
  • 35g plain flour
  • pinch ground cinnamon
  • cream or natural yogurt, to serve

Method

Preheat oven to 180°C. Peel and core the apple and cut into chunks. In a small baking dish, add the apples, lemon zest and half a tablespoon of sugar and combine. In a small bowl, mix the butter and flour until you have a mixture that resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the rest of the sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over a teaspoon of water and stir the crumbs together so they form clumps. Scatter the crumble mixture over the apple and bake for 45 minutes. Serve with cream or natural yoghurt for a healthier option.
