The Government will improve access to health care, new hospitals, mental health reforms and e-Health.
As well as funding for public dental care, the Government will invest $61 billion in 2012/13 to improve access to health care, new hospitals, mental health reforms and e-Health. Most significant is the funding of a four-year National Bowel Cancer Screening program. Bowel cancer is currently the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in Australia. Early detection and screening made possible by funding of $49.7 million of funding will result in 12,000 cases of bowel cancer being diagnosed each year.
