Breast cancer surgery breakthrough

With up to 20 per cent of breast cancer surgery patients requiring follow-up surgery to remove cancerous tissue left behind, a breakthrough in surgical equipment could significantly reduce the number of cases.

Researchers at the University of Adelaide have invented an optical fibre probe that could help surgeons identify the difference in tissue during surgery.
