Man escapes jail after mid-air attack

Anyone who thinks that being an air steward is a glamorous job should think again. I mean, who expects to get punched juts for doing their job?

That’s exactly what happened on a Turkish Airlines flight between Istanbul and Manchester in the UK, when a 40-year-old man took umbrage at being told he couldn’t smoke in the toilet and was denied another drink. The man, having already drunk four gin and tonics, approach the 24-year-old air stewardess and took a swipe – thankfully she was able to stop the blow from landing by putting her hands up to her face.

And his punishment? The father-of-one, was fined £600, handed a two year suspended sentence and forced to pay £100 in compensation, a £115 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. Oh and he also suffered a broken leg when he fell over during the attack.
