Podcast: Picture postcard-perfect Cook Islands

When you think iconic Pacific islands, you might think Fiji, Tahiti, Samoa. But there’s one group of 15 islands that might be one of the planet’s best-kept secret – the Cook Islands.

That was until Lonely Planet named it the No. 1 destination in its ‘Best in Travel’ list of 2022 and the recent announcement that direct flights are being rescheduled between Australia and Rarotonga in 2023.

On the podcast, Cook Islands marketing manager Rachel Mackey and YourLifeChoices managing editor Janelle Ward, who visited the Cook Islands in November, tell host John Deeks what he’s missing out on.

They describe the amazing beauty of Aitutaki – voted by many travel writers as the most beautiful island in the world – and Rarotonga: how to get there, where to stay, what to do there, why and how the islands have managed to stay so natural, unspoilt, and safe for visitors.
