Record video calls

Having friends and family overseas can be difficult, but online video calls makes it easier to keep in touch. Even better, though, is that you can record those calls and save the memories.

Ecamm

A powerful video-recording tool that has been around for over a decade, Ecamm has two products available for recording video, one for Skype, the other for Facetime. These products are both easy to use and will capture your video or audio calls in great quality.

Ecamm’s Skype and Facetime recording tools are available for PC and Mac and cost a one-time fee of $30 each, with a 7-day free trial available. Click here to visit the website.

If you’re not willing to invest that much money into recording your video calls, read on for the best free option.

ooVoo

This app is one of the best free video calling apps on the market. It’s similar to other messaging and video calling apps such as Skype and Whatsapp, but comes with some great features that are left out of the competition. One of these features is video recording, which allows you to save your video calls on your PC. Unfortunately this feature is exclusive to PC for now, but you only need a PC to record the call, so the person on the other end can still call you from an iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone or Mac.

Here’s how to record a call with ooVoo from the app’s support page:

 1. Start or join an ooVoo call. During an ooVoo call, select Actions and click Record (in sidebar mode click Menu > Actions >Record). You can also right-click in the video call window (except on the participant videos) and select Record video call.

2. To stop the recording, click Actions and Stop Recording (in sidebar mode click Menu > Actions >Stop Recording).

When you stop the recording, the recorded file is completed and when you start the recording again a new file begins.
3. Click End Call icon to end the conversation. A message will appear. Click OK. You will be able to view the recording from the Recorded files window.

Visit the ooVoo website to find out more.
