Symphony Orchestra sets sail

APT has announced it will be bringing the symphony to life on Europe’s waterways in 2016.

Inviting an ensemble of musicians from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) to perform, the exclusive live performances are the first in a series of new Special Events cruises unveiled by APT.

Available to book now, the quartet of SSO musicians will perform aboard six departures on APT’s 15-day Magnificent Europe river cruise. The one-off performances will feature timeless classics and masterpieces by the great composers, as well as works by newcomers on the classical music scene.

With APT already a major sponsor of the SSO’s flagship Master Series at the Sydney Opera House, Chief Marketing Officer, Debra Fox, said inviting musicians to perform live onboard APT river cruises seemed a natural extension of this partnership. Adding that the “special departures promise to deliver an experience that is simply unforgettable.”

Sydney Symphony Orchestra Managing Director Rory Jeffes echoed her sentiments, calling the trip a “bucket-list for anyone who loves or appreciates classical music and luxury travel.”

Priced from $8495 per person, twin share, the special SSO fiev-day Magnificent Europe departures will sail through five countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
