Insider tips – Noula’s Sydney

Many Australians think they know Sydney quite well but as local Noula is only too happy to point out, there’s more to this city than meets the eye.

Best coffee
Sappho’s in Glebe, which is also a second-hand bookstore, or Labancz Patisserie in Rozelle. Both are my favourites and I’m happy whiling away the hours at either.

Best breakfast
Cornersmith in Marrickville. It’s family run and they run their own picklery.

Or Harris Farm Salt Meats Cheese in Drummoyne – it’s just opened and it has an oyster shuckery, pizza oven, coffee bean roaster and more on site.

Best cocktail
For those young at heart Palmer & Co and Baxter Inn in the CBD. Otherwise the Opera Bar without a doubt – it’s in the middle of all of Sydney’s landmark views.

Best local view
Vaucluse Lighthouse – there’s little else needs said about this beautiful spot.

One fun thing you can do for free
Visit Artereal Gallery – or go to the Rocks markets on the weekend and pop into the Museum of Contemporary Art while you’re there.

Favourite thing to do in and around Sydney
I love to spend my time visiting art galleries, bookstores and farmers markets in Rozelle, Balmain, Marrickville. And I’m delighted that I can take a ferry at Circular Quay to just about anywhere – there are lots of short trips available or go to Manly by ferry for fish and chips.

Why do you love this town?
Sydney is and engaging environment, diverse, colourful and energetic, creative and has both an indoor and outdoor approach to life.
