Jetstar is now flying direct to the Cook Islands from Australia

One of the world’s most iconic tropical paradises has just become more accessible to Australians.

You can now fly to the beautiful Cook Islands and the warm water of the Rarotonga and world-renowned Aitutaki lagoons – via a direct flight with Jetstar.

Jetstar is offering two weekly return flights on its newest aircraft, the longer range Airbus A321neo LR.

The announcement means that the Cook Islands, with their stunning lagoons, beautiful white beaches and warm temperatures, will become even more popular with Australians. They’re already hugely popular with New Zealanders and having visited a few months ago, it’s easy to see why.

The Cook Islands’ natural beauty is wonderfully supported by careful planning with no dwellings higher than a coconut tree. But be sure that there are beautiful resorts among those coconut trees.

Cook Islands Prime Minister Mark Brown says the islanders are always ready and waiting to welcome Australian visitors with open arms and warm smiles.

Cook Islands is the ultimate tropical island destination, renowned for some of the world’s most incredible crystal-clear waters, and Aitutaki lagoon is recognised as one of the most beautiful in the world, he says. And every word is true!

The culture, cuisine, activities and lifestyle of Cook Islanders is a drawcard for Australians, he adds, as is the wide range of accommodation, including full-service resorts (both family and adult only), boutique hotels and holiday homes. For visitors wanting to explore further and experience wilderness off grid, there are multiple other islands in the Cook Islands to discover.

The flights depart Sydney on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 9.30pm, arriving in Rarotonga at 7am the same day (there’s a 21-hour time difference during daylight saving time). The flights depart Rarotonga at 9am arriving back in Sydney at 12.30pm the following day. Jetstar already flies to Rarotonga from Auckland, New Zealand.
