Jetstar travel tricks trouble

New routes and air alliances can mean more travel options, so what’s new in the air this week?

Jetstar travel tricks trouble
Consumer advocacy groups CHOICE and Consumer NZ have joined forces to campaign against Jetstar’s automatic opt-in options.

The advocacy groups claim Jetstar’s website and booking process tricks customers into paying for extras that they don’t want or need, with automatic opt-ins costing travellers up to 67 per cent more than the advertised price of booking flights.

From pricey travel insurance to seat selection fees, and high baggage charges, Jetstar’s practice of pre-ticking boxes for optional extras can be very misleading for customers.

You can find out more at CHOICE or send a message to Jetstar CEO, David Hall, asking him to ditch the ticks.

HBO takes off
In news that will no doubt please many, Qantas has partnered with HBO. One of the world’s most successful TV services, HBO is responsible for some of the most popular programs in the world including Game of Thrones, The Sopranos and Sex and The City.

Starting this month, Qantas will offer 120 hours of HBO drama, comedy and documentary content to its customers, with the channel updated each month to include a further 20 hours of the latest shows and movies.

In addition, another three Foxtel channels – National Geographic, Lifestyle by Foxtel and Entertainment by Foxtel – will also be added to their inflight program, as part of the multi-million dollar overhaul.
