There’s more to Australia than Ramsay Street

“There’s more to Australia than Ramsay Street,” says Tourism Australia.

It’s the end of an era. The beloved Australian drama Neighbours has officially ended its 37-year run on air.

But just as we say our last goodbyes to the iconic Australian drama, Tourism Australia is calling upon the public to say “G’Day to Australia” with their latest advert.

Produced by Fremantle and CHEP Network, the 30-second ad debuted on Channel 5 and My5 during the ad break of the show’s final (29 July).

The ad cleverly slices in scenes from the show with major Australian tourist attractions, and displays the final tagline ‘Say g’day to Australia’ in the show’s familiar logo. Neighbours alumni Kylie Minogue and long running character Paul Robinson even make a cameo.

Sally Cope, Tourism Australia’s regional general manager for the UK and Northern Europe said to The Drum: “For four decades, a little touch of the Australian lifestyle has been appearing in everyone’s living room every day.”

But, then again, as we mourn this loss Tourism Australia reminds us … “there’s more to Australia than just Ramsay Street”.
