At YourLifeChoices, we love to solve your travel dilemmas.
One of the most gratifying facets of our work is being able to help real-life travellers with their travel dilemmas. Here are the top five travel dilemmas we’ve solved this year.
5. Which is the best budget airline?
Deborah had a tight holiday budget and asked us which of the low-cost carriers would give her the best bang for her buck without losing too much on quality service and comfort. We enlisted the help of travel guru Dr Tiana Templeman, who provided some fantastic information and advice that helped Deborah on her way.
4. Is there any way to get a free upgrade?
Val had always wanted to sit at the pointy end of the plane, but never had the money. So she asked us if it was possible to get a free upgrade. It’s a question we’re often asked, and the short answer is: not really, but it does happen every now and then. If you follow the suggestions we made to Val, you’ll have a good shot and you may just get lucky.
3. Can you really retire on a cruise ship?
Gerard had read somewhere that it was cheaper to retire on a cruise ship than on land, which may sound like a dream to some. Olga listed the ways it may be possible, with some examples of the people it had worked for, and also gave Gerard a ‘try before you buy’ option.
2. What happens if you miss your connecting flight?
In March, we talked Harvey through how much time he’d need to make a connecting flight from Los Angeles Airport (LAX) to Las Vegas. As many of you may know, LAX is a hectic airport, and Harvey was worried he’d miss his flight. So, we set his mind at ease by informing him of minimum connection times and what he could do if he did miss his flight.
1. The best plane seats in economy and how to get them
Ben explained to Jill how all plane seats are not created equally, and went through the best seats for those who don’t want a ‘wingman’, those who like a bit of peace and quiet, and those who need a bit of extra legroom. He also offered her a simple tip for making sure she got her preferred seat.
