The coolest way to use Google

Is there anything Google can’t do? After learning about this feature, I think it’s safe to say they’ve got the whole world in the palm of their hand.

I’m not sure if I’ve been living under a rock and have simply missed one of the most amazing things Google does, but when I heard about Google Sky, it blew my mind and I knew I just had to share.

Similar to Google Maps, Google Sky allows you to view celestial objects such as stars, constellations, galaxies, planets and the Earth’s moon. All you have to do is go to Google.com/sky and start your search.

You can use the feature in a few different ways, by either searching the sky for an object such as a constellation, or navigating your way around the sky, panning and zooming in or out, as you please.

Similar to Google Maps, Google Sky offers various ways to view the sky maps, such as infrared, microwave, historical and, perhaps the most interesting, backyard astronomy, which will circle objects of interest for you.

So next time you’re out under the stars why not give Google’s Sky Maps a try? It’s a great way to teach the grandchildren about astronomy. But why stop at Google Sky? There’s also Google Moon and Google Mars for those who really want to get out of this world!

Have you previously heard of Google Sky? Have you ever used it? What do you think?
