The must-have app for road trips

Planning a road trip across our wide brown land? The developers at WikiCamps have created a fantastic app to help travellers as they drive around Australia: Fuel Map.

Fuel Map is a crowd-sourced database of petrol stations and fuel prices from all across Australia. All station information is added and edited by users like yourself.

You can also add current fuel prices, which are then shared with other users of Fuel Map.

Fuel Map saves you the hassle of driving around trying to find the cheapest fuel prices and one of its best functions is the ability to select the fuel that you want to compare. For example, if you use diesel, it will only compare the price of diesel, removing all the information that is not relevant to your journey.

The West Australian government website fuelwatch.wa.gov.au provides hundreds of fuel prices for WA’s stations every day and those prices are automatically available on the app. Hopefully, other states will follow suit.

Locations of stations are shown on a map as a branded pin with the last known fuel price, which makes it quick and simple to use.

Fuel Map also comes with a handy fuel log so you can keep track of your fuel purchases, as well as your vehicle’s fuel economy.
