Aussie digital healthcare brand Juniper has found patients on their weight loss program, using GLP-1 medications, to be 450 per cent more likely to lose significant weight (more than 5 per cent), compared to a phase 3 clinical trial of people taking the same medication.

The findings were published in a peer-reviewed study in the Journal of Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, establishing GLP-1 medications to be more effective when combined with health coaching, personalised treatment plans and access to a team of health experts, than when taken by patients without support.

The study tested three separate groups of people to find the most effective uses of GLP-1s. Analysis of results of the three cohorts found that patients on the Juniper treatment plan:
- were twice as likely to lose at least 15 per cent of their body weight, and in less time
- nearly 90 per cent of Juniper patients lost at least 5 per cent of their body weight at 32 weeks
- a quarter of Juniper patients lost at least 15 per cent of their body weight at 32 weeks.
