How did your fund perform at the super fund awards?

Financial research group Chant West has named its best super funds of the year at its 10th annual super fund awards event.

The Chant West Super Fund Awards recognises outstanding achievement across 13 categories and aims to showcase best practice in Australia’s super industry.

“For our 2022 ratings, we’ve also raised the bar on the standard we require for a fund to receive our highest rating of five apples,” said Chant West general manager Ian Fryer.

“In this year’s awards we wanted to highlight those funds that keep raising the bar to drive better outcomes for their members.”

UniSuper took out the prestigious super fund of the year award. Originally a fund for teachers and other workers in the higher education and research sector, UniSuper broadened its membership base last year by opening up to the general public.

The fund of the year award looks at a range of key criteria including investments, member services, fees, insurance and organisational strength.

UniSuper CEO Peter Chun said winning fund of the year was a shining endorsement of the fund’s well-rounded product offering.

“UniSuper aims to be Australia’s best super fund and we are constantly striving to improve our product – whether it’s our sustainable investment strategy, our cost-effective investment management, or our robust advisory service – we are working to help members secure retirement outcomes,” Mr Chun said.

Other major winners included TelstraSuper, taking out pension fund of the year, and construction workers industry fund Cbus, which was awarded specialist fund of the year.

“We thank Chant West for recognising once again the specialised and bespoke nature of Cbus as the leading fund for our sector, and for recognising our focus on integrity and disclosure,” said Cbus CEO Justin Arter.

“It’s tremendous recognition for Cbus’s investment team with Chant West singling out our approach to responsible investing and meeting of sustainability goals.
