Winter warmers

The sun is shining outside my window as I type, but I am not fooled. I know that the weather will turn in the next couple of days, as winter begins to take hold. The mere thought of a biting wind is enough to turn my mind to a sunny beach somewhere.

And the good news is, thanks to Expedia travel, I might be able to convert that dream to reality. They’ve got some great deals combining flight and hotel bookings for a winter getaway. I feel warmer already!

Expedia

The window through which the sun is currently shining down on me is in Melbourne. Here the coldest days of the year usually come in mid-July. Yes, I’m a weather nerd. Most Melburnians are to one degree or another! Perhaps the good people at Expedia are, too, because they have a perfect getaway deal for that very time.

How about flying out from Melbourne on Saturday 13 July and spending a week in Bali? That option, including seven nights at the Ubud Kerta City Hotel, is available for just $784 per person. From Sydney that week, you can get flights and seven nights at the Griya D’Carik hotel in Tua for $985. That’s $131 off the regular price.

Or if you’re not free that week, try Expedia’s August deals. From Melbourne, flights and six nights at the beautiful Hartaning House by Pramana Villas from 10-16 August start from $794.

Check out Expedia’s full range of winter packages here.

Fancy something a little more luxurious? How about an all-inclusive trip to Riu Atoll? You’ll stay on a property with a private beach and full-service spa for four nights. At just $2849 per person, that’s a saving of more than $800 off the price of booking separately.

Living room adventures

Getting away from home might not be possible or preferable for you, but a winter indoors can still include adventure. And there is no shortage of adventures to choose from in the world of gaming.

Nintendo can offer you an adventure at a ridiculously cheap price. The Last Campfire places you inside the story of a trapped lost ember searching for meaning and a way home. On this journey discover a beautiful wilderness filled with lost folk, strange creatures and mysterious ruins. Along the way, you’ll “find hope and carry it with you on your journey to light The Last Campfire”. And you can do it all for the ridiculously cheap price of just $2.25!

Another exciting-sounding adventure is Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown. In this game you’ll get to “unleash your inner warrior and “lose yourself in the prodigious Mount Qaf”! Just how prodigious is Mount Qaf? You can find out as you “live an epic adventure” on Xbox for just $36 at Amazon. That’s less than half the retail price.

Budget Pet Products

On the other hand, you might prefer to spend the cooler months pampering your puppy or cuddling your cat. Or perhaps you have a pet of another kind. Whatever the case, Budget Pet Products is giving you the chance to treat your furry, feathered or finned friend at a discount.

Today (Thursday) is the third day of Budget Pet Products’ four-day Pet Frenzy Sale. This is a sale with a difference, because the items on sale change daily. So if you don’t see a suitable special for your pet today, you’ll have another chance tomorrow. If you head to Budget Pet Products’ Pet Frenzy Sale page now and again tomorrow, you might get lucky twice.

Until next week, stay warm.
