Why do hot cross buns bring out the worst in people?
Delicious buns are enough, why people feel the need to do things to them. Add extra flavours, deep fry them, turn them into savoury flavour. You name, they’ve probably done it.
Well one Australian TikToker Stephcooksstuff has shared a few hot cross bun recipes and we predict they will either delight or disgust you.
In one popular video she cuts the buns in half, slathers them with quince paste, tops that with two layers of brie and then wraps them in bacon. After a bit of turn in the air fryer, Bob’s your uncle, you have diabetes. No I jest, you have a wonderous alternative Easter snack.
She also makes vanilla slice hot cross buns, by spreading a layer of custard between buns and then refrigerating them. I love custard, but that might be a bun too far.
