The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has made a decision on who is going to grace the $5 note since the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

And the decision is … it’s going to let the public decide. Well, up to a point.
The RBA has moved that instead of continuing with tradition which means King Charles would be next on the note, it will instead use a design that honours and celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

The RBA wants your ideas on a theme that recognises diversity and respects first nations culture and according to their public statement “no idea is too big or too small”.

“We want to try something new. We want to think outside the box, to capture and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in a creative way,” the RBA said in a statement

“You might suggest one word that describes your chosen theme. Then, you can provide a little more information about why it’s important to you and your community.

“So, tell us, what’s important to you and you might see it in your back pocket in the not-to-distant future.”

Head on over to the RBA website and search for banknotes for your chance to be involved.

Who do you think should be on the $5 note?

I think a perfect candidate for the five domino would be sister, Vivian Bullwinkle, a true hero of the Second World War. The trauma and heroic dues that she went through. Absolutely amazing.

I think this is a great suggestion Chris. She was an inspiring woman.

If it is to be a person then that person must not be currently alive.
