Former prime minister Scott Morrison is under fire following a damaging report from the Robodebt royal commission. The findings have led to calls for Mr Morrison to resign from his seat of Cook.

Released last Friday, the report claims that Mr Morrison provided “untrue” evidence to the commission, an act that could result in criminal charges. Mr Morrison has denied the findings, insisting he did not mislead the Cabinet regarding the legality of the Robodebt scheme.

Senior Liberals, including Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, have publicly supported Mr Morrison. But many say that if he continues to resist resignation, he may be forced out of politics.

The royal commission referred several individuals involved in the creation of the Robodebt scheme for civil and criminal prosecutions. Mr Morrison has not confirmed whether he has been privately notified of a potential referral.

The controversy comes as the NSW Liberals prepare to hold preselections for Liberal-held seats by the end of the year. However, Mr Morrison’s electorate of Cook was notably absent from the preselection schedule, suggesting that party officials expect him to resign before the next election.

How do you feel about this? Should he be run out or given the benefit of the doubt?

Yes, Mr Morrison should be made to resign, he is the worst Prime Minister the Liberal Party has ever had and has done a lot of damage to the party.
He should also lose all the benefits that an ex-Prime Minister receives and all the other benefits he receives should go to families whose lives he helped destroy.
