The new flick Serena, stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper can only be described as a Depression-era romantic drama.
Set in North Carolina in the 1930s, George Pemberton is a young entrepreneur who owns a timber factory. But it all becomes complicated when he meets and on a whim, marries Serena, a beautiful and opinionated woman from a poor upbringing.
The film is riddled with dramatic and sexual tension, violence, jazz-age clothing, and the beauty of North Carolina’s sweeping mountain ranges.
Serena is directed by Danish film-maker Susanne Bier and based on a novel of the same name by Ron Rash.
