Signs of hearing loss

Hearing loss can be gradual and therefore difficult to diagnose if it’s a real problem. If you’re experiencing a few of the following symptoms, then it’s time to take action.

Hearing loss indicators

  • Find that having a telephone conversation difficult.
  • The television or radio volume is turned up quite high and others complain it’s too loud.
  • You find yourself avoiding conversation or social interaction.
  • More often than not, you have to concentrate on people’s mouths when they speak to be able to understand what they are saying.
  • You have difficulty hearing in a noisy background.
  • You’re constantly asking people to repeat themselves.
  • And people close to you are becoming increasingly annoyed that you misunderstand them.

Each issue on it’s own could be enough to indicate that your hearing may not be functioning as well as you thought. This may be a temporary issue, caused by infection or a specific health issue, but if the signs persist, then it really is time to have your hearing checked by an audiologist.
