Eurovision’s new Guy

Guy Sebastian is making headlines as the first Australian to be competing in Eurovision. What’s more, he’s so strong that some are predicting he’ll win the competition.

The 33-year-old Australian Idol winner was chosen earlier this year as the wildcard entry for the 60th Eurovision contest, which will be held in Vienna. Since his acceptance into the contest, Guy has received great support from fans and music judges alike – even the UK is throwing its support behind our Guy.

Forty countries will participate in the contest, with Australia making its debut as a guest entrant. The favourites to win this year are Sweden in first place, Italy in second, Australia in third and Russia in fourth.

Guy previously impressed audiences when he performed his original song, Tonight Again. Despite recovering from a severe cold (which he caught while surfing in Salzburg – a stunt he performed to promote Australia), he will reappear on stage to perform Tonight Again when Eurovision kicks off this weekend.

The competition is expected to be viewed by at least 197 million people worldwide, including 2.7 million people in Australia.
