Go places you’ve never been before

What if there was a way you could travel anywhere you liked without taking a holiday? Google Maps Streetview Player puts the world at your fingertips, taking you to amazing places you’ve never been before. So, when taking a holiday just isn’t on the cards, why not do some armchair travelling instead?

Google Maps Street View is a handy tool that allows you to spy on streets, buildings and landmarks anywhere in the world. You can use it to check out a hotel location, see historical sites or even view out your own driveway. However, what it hasn’t done so well is allow you to take a seamless journey at street level – until now.

Google Maps Streetview Player, created by software developer Brian Folts, is the answer to the disjointed graphics of Google Maps. All you have to do is type in your place of origin and your destination and hit play. Just like in Google Maps Journey Planner, Streetview Player charts a travel route between the point of origin and destination you enter, meaning the application requires an existing travel route, either by walking, driving, bicycling or public transport. For example, you could take drive from Paris to London or walk through the streets of Florence to visit the Statue of David.

This tool is great if you want to see what it’s like driving on roads in another country or revisit a memorable walking tour of a city you’ve visited before. So instead of sitting at home wishing you were somewhere else, you can simply go online and take yourself there in moments.
