Bendigo’s new addition

With Bendigo having been chosen as a true leader in the growing Australian regional art and cultural scene, a new offering from the Art Series Hotel Group, The Schaller Studio, opened in Bendigo in 2014.

Providing contemporary accommodation, The Schaller Studio has the signature art-inspired twist for which the Art Series Hotel Group is famous. With 128 rooms, it is also the first property to launch the Studio concept for the Group, offering a more compact version than the brand’s other properties.

Inspired by namesake, renowned expressionist artist Mark Schaller, the hotel displays 240 pieces of his original work, ranging from oil on canvas to sculptures and mosaics.

A modern take on a country guesthouse, The Schaller Studio is also the official hotel partner to the Bendigo Art Gallery, and has stay and visit packages on offer.

Featuring signature comforts such as microwaves, coffee-pod machines, 42-inch TVs, docking stations and free wifi, every room also comes complete with its own balcony and a Mark Schaller original – which can be purchased for $4000.

The hotel also has a café and lounge bar, The Pantry, which offers grazing-type meals that showcase some of the local produce. A library also encourages guests to get their creative juices flowing with sketchpads and utensils, not to mention all the Australian art books.
