Great Aussie country pubs

Every town around Australia has one, and some are more iconic that others, so here are our suggestions on great country pubs to visit when you are out exploring our golden land.

Silverton Hotel, New South Wales
The site of many Australian films, commercials and television shows such as Mad Max II, Razorback, A Town Like Alice, Dirty Deeds and the Craic. The iconic Silverton Hotel is located close to Broken Hill in outback NSW.

Nindigully Hotel (The Gully), Queensland
Located on the banks of the Moonie River where fishing is not only allowed but encouraged, Queensland’s oldest hotel has been serving coldies since 1864.

The Daly Waters Pub, Northern Territory
This absolutely classic Aussie pub, frequented by drovers moving cattle between Darwin and Alice Springs, has been welcoming travellers since 1893.

Largs Pier Hotel, South Australia
Perfectly located on one of South Australia’s most beautiful beachfronts, the Largs Pier Hotel maintains an air of grandeur and old-world character from its 1920s heyday.

The Stanley Pub, Victoria
Just up the road from Beechworth, The Stanley is the perfect country pub to visit all year round with an open fire in winter and a charming wisteria-draped garden for summer.

The Palace Hotel, Kalgoorlie WA
A grand gold rush hotel located in the goldfields of Western Australia.

Man O’Ross Hotel, Tasmania
Situated between Launceston and Hobart in the historic township of Ross, and serving travellers since 1835.
