Not everyone will relate to themselves as being seniors but if it can save you money when travelling, why not embrace the term. Seniors discounts across Canada may be offered to those over 55, although over 60 is more common. We’ve uncovered the best discounts on travel, accommodation, dining and national park entry that apply across Canada.
Of course, not all discounts are advertised and we always find that simply asking if you’re eligible to save on your fare, meal or entry fee can often reap rewards. Don’t be embarrassed about asking – the money is better in your pocket than anywhere else.
Canadian Association for Retired Persons (CARP) is a not-for-profit organisation that looks after the interests of older Canadians but the good news for Australians is that you can join for CA$24.95. What are the benefits? As well as receiving eight issues of Zoomer magazine, you’ll also be issued with a very valuable CARP membership card that gives you access to discounts in Canada at hotels, such as Travelodge and Choice hotels, car hire with Budget, Hertz and AVIS, and saves you money when you fill up at Esso fuel stations. So if you’re planning on seeing Canada by road, it will be money well spent.
