Aussie airline is world’s safest

After a year of tragic airline incidents, a report published by AirlineRatings.com in January named Australian-owned Qantas as the world’s safest airline.

The report, which rated 449 airlines, recognised a huge growth in technological and safety development, with airlines in 2014 carrying “a record 3.3 billion passengers on 27 million flights.”

Last year saw some horrific accidents occur, with Malaysian Airlines flights MH370 and MH17 both vanishing, and AirAsia flight QZ8501 crashing into the ocean. The report described these accidents as “tragic and bizarre incidents in modern history”.

Over its 94 years of flying, Qantas has continued to accrue “an extraordinary record of firsts” in safety and operations. It was also recognised for its fatality-free record.
