Treating yourself to travel in 2019?

Many of you may make a New Year’s resolution to treat yourself to a holiday in 2019 – and the tourism industry is counting on it.

New research released by The Global Work & Travel Company shows that your New Year’s resolution, along with hundreds of thousands of others, result in a spike of just under 50 per cent in holiday inquiries and bookings.

For many travel agents and companies, January is their busiest month.

“January bookings boom by 45 per cent compared to December,” said The Global Work & Travel Company chief executive Juergen Himmelmann.

“Customers cite the New Year and new ‘life goals’ as a main reason they decide to make a change and book a working holiday or volunteer experience, go teach English abroad, travel as an au pair or undertake a professional internship.”

Mr Himmelmann said that Canada, the US and UK are the most popular destinations requested by travellers, mainly due to their recognisable landmarks and convenience.
