Travel Vision: Vilnius’ new campaign is less risqué but equally as cheeky

Font Size:

Last year, Vilnius’ the now infamous ‘G-spot of Europe’ campaign won best destination campaign at the International Travel and Tourism Awards in London.

With the tagline ‘Nobody knows where it is, but when you find it – it’s amazing’ and a series of videos showing ‘ecstatic’ tourists, the campaign attracted both positive and negative attention – but attention nonetheless to the Lithuanian capital.

Vilnius’ latest ad campaign pokes fun at anyone who doesn’t know where it is. Which is, as the video suggest, most people.

The new campaign, though less risqué, is equally as cheeky – and we love it. Do you?

It is a very pretty place, flat as a pancake, so great for the geriatric walker. Also HEAPS of good opshops.

Every day of the three days I was there, we had a storm in the afternoon! I got caught in it one day, got drenched, then 20 minutes later out came the sun! My umbrella blew inside out, my shoes got saturated, and it was difficult to dry my clothes for the next day! Soggy old place, will give it a miss next time!

I have visited Vilnius several times also Riga in Latvia and Tallinn in Estonia. All three capitals of these three renewed States are delightful little gems and make for easy pleasurable walking, all quite different. One of my most memorable, stunning car drives was the 1,000km from Tallinn via Riga and Kaunas another delightful Lithuanian city to Warsaw in mid December through snow covered countryside with the sun very low in the sky and immediately ahead just as the region was transitioning from Communism. Like much of Northern & Central Eastern Europe it has to be visited in all four seasons to be fully appreciated
